The plot of the movie centers on an International Monetary Fund agent named Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, and his partnership with a British spy named Ilsa Faust, played by Rebecca Ferguson, to bring down a mysterious organization called the Syndicate. While attempting to learn the truth about the Syndicate's malicious plots, the two individuals are forced to contend with a great number of challenges and perilous circumstances along the way.

Some examples of these set-pieces include a high-speed chase through the streets of Casablanca and a death-defying plane stunt executed by Tom Cruise himself.
